Depression Counselling Oldham
Depression drains your energy, hope, and drive, making it difficult to do what you need to feel better. But while overcoming depression isn't quick or easy, it's far from impossible. You can't just will yourself to "snap out of it" but you do have some control even if your depression is severe and stubbornly persistent. The key is to start small and build from there. Counselling can be a great starting point and allows you to freely explore all your inner feelings in a safe, non judgemental environment.
There is no single cause of depression, there can be many contributing factors. There may be a slow onset of low mood followed by something which triggers depression.
There can be many reasons for depression:
Illness
You are at a higher risk of depression if you are suffering a life limiting condition, long term illness, chronic pain along with other illnesses or conditions
Stress
One of the factors below can lead to stress, several of the factors together can increase the risk.
Loneliness
Being cut off from family and friends can increase risk of depression, moving to a new area, a change of circumstances including having a baby changing the circumstances in which you live.
Personality
You may be more vulnerable to depression if you have certain personality traits, such as low self-esteem or being overly self-critical. This may be because of the genes you've inherited from your parents, or because of your early life experiences.
